Field Guide:
First Model year: 1971
Price at launch: $699.95 (Lafayette Catalog 720)
Period Reviews: Stereo Review – July, 1971
The view from today: The 701 is seldom seen on the market today, and those that come on the market are typically in need of service. Prices reflect this, with mostly functional, cosmetically fine examples selling for $200 – $300. The optional wood case seems to add about $50 to that value. Although these are 4 channel receivers, and suffer the same issues of limited source material that all vintage 4 channel receivers do today, they make for fine sounding powerful stereo receivers and represent a good value when used as such.
